Here We Come A Wassailing...

It is a Neilson, now Sullenger, tradition to stew up a pot of wassail on the first snow day of the year. But, it can't be flurries, the snow has to actually stick on the ground. Jamie and I have followed this tradition our whole 4 years of marriage until now...yes, it's true. We have officially broken the tradition. We are cooking wassail tonight though it is in the 80's outside, and the sun is shining brighter than ever. It feels just like any other summer day if we were in Idaho or Montana. We have been craving our wassail and it just doesn't quite seem like the holidays this year without having atleast steamed some and filled our house up with that wonderful aromic smell. It is the strangest thing down here! We walked in Wal-Mart the other night and of course saw the palm trees out front, but with Santa and his sleigh on the roof. It's quite odd to hear Christmas music in the malls and see all sorts of holiday decorations and then walk outside in a T-Shirt and sandals. We are so excited to be able to go back home for the holidays and see snow (hopefully), see real Christmas trees, and be able to wear a wool sweater and a coat! Don't get me wrong...after Christmas, we are probably going to be thanking our lucky stars for the beautiful weather down here and not have to fight icey roads for the next 4 months! But, as for now, we miss it :)

I actually miss Alaska believe it or not. Not really the darkness but the absolute beauty of that state.
