I hate apartment living!

So, I completely forgot to tell y'all about our little experience the other day. Last weekend I was talking to my mom on the phone, and while looking out our porch window, I practically saw a waterfall coming from the second floor. I just thought the neighbors were being dumb and I started venting to my mom how much I hate "apartment living." So, we continued with our conversation as I walked into the kitchen to pull out my homemade pizza for dinner. I looked on the floor and saw a gust of water coming from the pantry quickly filling up a good part of our kitchen flowing behind our oven and around our cupboards. I freaked out, quickly said "goodbye" to my mom, "my apartment is flooding!" We hurried and threw towels on the ground trying to stop the water flow and wondering why in the world it would be coming from our pantry! We opened the door to the pantry and noticed it coming down our walls! I walked in the living room to see if it was leaking anywhere else and sure enough it was leaking through our vents in our bathroom, and I could also hear it trickling inside the walls to our living room! I looked outside again, and the upstairs neighbors through a bunch of water out again! I yelled up to them asking them what was going on, and they quickly responded that their A/C busted! Two ladies were outside the whole time having the entertainment of their lives, standing there with their little dogs. I almost asked them if they'd like a large popcorn with that. Anyways, so we called up the emergency maintenance (this all happened about 8:00 at night), and it took them about 45 minutes just to show up! By the time they got here, we had already got the water out and cleaned behind our stove and everything. We had a bunch of food storage in the boxes that saturated the bottom of the boxes...but not too much damage besides that. We were pretty lucky! As for the walls, the maintenance came over the next day and put a dryer in the walls to make sure it wouldn't mold inside. Our carpet around the outside of the walls got a little wet but nothing real damaging. Most of the water stayed in the kitchen, bathroom, and in the walls. I didn't see the apartment upstairs, but from what I hear, they had a major flood. The maintenance man said that they hadn't changed their A/C filter for a while and the pipe froze. So when they turned it on the water hit the ice and it was so much pressure, that it blew up like a bomb! Anyways, moral of the story is...change your A/C filter every 30 days! We didn't know that, and the maintenance guy said that we better not turn on our A/C until the filter gets changed because ours was actually worse than the neighbors! He couldn't believe that the same thing hadn't happened to us yet! We've been definately been watched over. As for the pizza, we ate it cold and hard at about 10:00 pm. :(

Oh my gosh! That is crazy, I cannot believe that, that happened. You are very blessed that it didn't happen in your apt. That is the craziest story.
