Ward Christmas Dinner

Our ward had an "adult only" Christmas dinner on Saturday. They had it before the Holidays so we could remember to make this holiday season Christ-centered before all the hussle and bussle starts up for the next month. I thought it was an excellent idea. This ward has get togethers all the time! It's such a fun and welcoming ward. Anyways, they had an excellent dinner with roasted vegetables, yummy steak with a gorgonzala cheese dressing and a chef salad accompanied with a carrot spice cake with a caramelized frosting. It was so good! The dress code for the night was "date attire," so everyone dressed up really nice. They really made it a special night for us all. The entertainment was special musical numbers by members in the ward. It was such a perfect evening. The lights were turned down low, and they had Christmas trees with twinkle lights everywhere. It was so fun to just dress up for a date and enjoy a free dinner together! We sat at a table with our friends, as you can see in the background of our picture. Ha! Our friend, Dan, snuck in the picture!
On a side note, Jamie and I have started having Family Home Evening with our friends Emily and Steve. We are so excited to start up the habit of doing FHE. It's really hard to just have it with the two of us, so we all thought it would be easier if we all met together on Monday nights. Last week Emily did the lesson on "The Purpose of Family Home Evening," to get us excited about it. Jamie did the lesson this week on "Thanksgiving." Jamie had a pictionary lesson with drawing our blessing and having everyone guess what we were drawing. It was a lot of fun! Both lessons turned out great and the Spirit was felt so strong. It's amazing how much this has helped bring the Spirit into our home and made the week go by smoother since we started doing this! I was in charge of the treats this week though...and am sad to say they did not turn out! The most simplest thing to make, and I ruined it! I have a homemade popcorn machine and I tried three different batches and the popcorn just would not pop! It kept on burning! I finally called my mom and asked her what I'm doing wrong and she told me that my popcorn is too old. Yes, we googled it. Popcorn only has a shelf life of up to 18 months. Did you know that? I guess it looses it's moisture level. Who would have thought?! So, we ended up having wassail. Yes, we broke out the wassail again for our yearly tradition. Yum! This batch turned out so good! I'm atleast proud of that! :)
