How could this...

...turn to this?!

Well, let me explain. Today was an interesting Sunday. Jamie and I teach the Sunbeams together. So, today we taught them about praying to Heavenly Father. The lesson was going great. After teaching them how to pray appropriately, Jamie took his part in the lesson to teach the story "Daniel in the Lion's Den." The manual said to reinact the story with the kids, so that is what he decided to do. We have a kid in the class who has a lot of energy, and always wants to help out with everything. So, when Jamie asked "who wants to be Daniel?" This little boy of course raised his hand yelling "me, me!" So, we picked him to come and be Daniel. We also had one be King Nebekenezer, an angel, and three be the lions. As Jamie was telling the story, he made a cage for the lions and had the three other kids go in there and act like they were lions. Well, Jamie looked over at the little boy to tell him he was going to put him in the lions den as part of the story. When he picked him up to put him in the den, the little boy started freaking out like Jamie was feeding him to real lions. Seriously, he was crying and kicking his feet! Jamie kept telling the story, ignoring the whole scene. I looked over and the child is shaking and his mouth was quivering! He was so scared he was about ready to hit one of the little girls growling at him. So, I picked him up and he just bawled! I couldn't believe it! Needless to say, we sorta hurried and ended the story. I still had the little boy on my lap as he was calming down and Jamie pulled out the picture of "daniel in the lions den." All the children gathered around to look at the picture. As soon as the little boy saw the picture, he let loose again and cried saying "I don't want to be Daniel anymore!"
I have a feeling this poor boy is going to be traumatized the rest of his life from this story. His parents are going to wonder why he's crying when they read it for now on. Jamie blames the manual for having that as part of the lesson ideas. How would we have known it would end up like that?! Sheesh! Talk about drama! But, we sweetened the deal with candy afterwards, and everything was good by the time parents came. Thank goodness!

Yeah, pretty much you guys scarred him for life...ha ha! Don't get too down on yourselves, maybe he'll be a good little boy in your class now that he knows you'll feed him to the lions if he doesn't behave! LOL! I know though, that age is all about drama (think Preston).
Oh my goodness, this was so funny. I had to read it to my mom. She says hello.
I can just see how YOUR family home evening is going to be! We had fun talking with you guys on sunday. We should do it again soon. thanks for the good laughs.
LOL! Ahh the joys of innocent children :)
blaaaah hahahahahah. Sooo funny! Little kids that age can't tell the difference between real and pretend. Poor guy. I wonder how he told his parents "what he learned in church"
