Feather Family vs. The Stone Family

This Sunday, our Sunbeam class was assigned to do the Sharing Time lesson in Primary. I've been trying to think of ideas all week. So after brainstorming idea after idea, I got online Thursday night to find out some better ideas and I ran across The Feather Family vs. The Stone Family lesson. Basically, the Feather family is "flaky" and they don't do the things they should, such as: reading their scriptures, saying their prayers, having FHE, playing together, and etc. The Stone family on the other hand do all those things to strengthen their family. For the "visual effect" part, I placed a family of rocks on the table next to a family of feathers. I had one of my sunbeams take the blow dryer to see what happens to the feather family when trials come their way. Then the feathers flew everywhere. I then asked another sunbeam to come try and blow the Stone family over, but of course they stood still. The whole primary was giggling and totally loved it! I kind of tweaked it to make it my own, and geared it more towards Sunbeams and the rest of the Junior Primary, so instead of looking up scriptures like the lesson suggested, Jamie and I decided giving them each a rock to color to remind them to be like the Stone family. Well, we are cheap. We didn't feel like going and spending money on rocks that we could pick up ourselves. So, we went out towards Red Rock by the national canyon to go find some smooth little rocks to glew the eyes on. After a little hunt for some river rock, we finally found some and started filling up our bags. When we got back in our car, about a minute later we passed a cop! Jamie looked down and noticed he was going 70, but didn't know what the speed limit was... well, none the less, the cop pulled us over...only it was a ranger, not a cop- which we found out is even worse! He came back and said we were speeding 75 mph in a 50! The ticket was originally $450, but he cut us a break and make it out for $225. I guess the ticket was more because he was speeding in a national park! So, the money we thought we saved, ended up costing us way more. Those stupid rocks cost us $225 bucks! Then, we stayed up til midnight just glewing eyes on the dang things! All I can say is, those kids better have LOVED that lesson!!! But, come on, aren't they cute?! I kept a couple of my favorites for my self:)

How cute and what a great lesson - I'll have to keep that in mind in the future...Sorry about the ticket though - that is expensive and it sucks!
