Moab: Day 1 - Hiking up to the Famous Delicate Arch
Last weekend, we received our Christmas present from Dorsie and Terry; a family trip to Moab! Unfortunately, not everyone was able to be there. We sure missed Kash, Cara, Hudson, Jon, and Wyatt and know they would have enjoyed it if they could have come. I was a little bit nervous going down being 30 weeks pregnant knowing that I have to go to the bathroom so much, but Dorsie was very understanding about the whole thing. I actually did better than I expected and was pretty proud of myself! I knew that if I was going down, I wouldn't be able to participate in a lot of events, but I made the best of it and had a great time just being with everyone! Patrick, Ashley, Dorsie, Terry, Jamie, and I all rode together down in Dorsie's truck. After our long and anticipated drive, (7 whole hours) last Thursday, we arrived at our hotel. Unfortunately, not everyone's schedules were able to match up as planned. So, with the last few hours of daylight, we headed out to Arches National Park for our hike to the famous Delicate Arch (as seen on Utah license plates). It was a bit of steep climb, but I'm proud and happy that I did it! It was so worth it when we got to the top. I sure was getting some weird looks from people coming down the mountain! Ha! Their eyes kept going directly to my belly! Jamie stayed back with me and helped me up. Everyone was very understanding that they had a 7 1/2 month pregnant girl as their cabouse behind them! Thanks you guys for your patience!
We made it to the top!
Patrick and Ashley standing by the arch. This just gives you an idea how big the arch actually is!
Dorsie and Terry... thank you so much for taking us!
The gang.
30 weeks pregnant!
There were some steep cliffs leading up to the arch. The scenery was breathtaking!
Pictures don't do it justice. This was the opposite side of the arch.
Heading back down while we still had sunlight.
Some of the slick rock on the way back down.
Beautiful red rock with the blue sky. A beauty that won't be found in Idaho!
