Welcome to Jamie and Linsy's little corner of the world. Here you will experience a little piece of what the Sullengers experience- a good portion of their lives including happiness, sadness, hopelessness, excitement, frustration and I'm sure a few more. We hope to keep you up to date on all the news that we have, so sit back, gossip, and enjoy!

Bountiful Baskets

What can you get for $15.00?

I can get:

1 5lb. bag of potatoes
8 granny smith apples
8 tangerines
1 bag of black seedless grapes
1 stalk of celery
8 pears
1 bundle of bananas
2 huge heads of leafy lettuce
7 cobs of corn
1 acorn squash
9 brussell sprouts
6 fuyu persimmons (they always throw one weird food in to try out)
We've been practically living off of bountiful baskets this summer and fall. We just found out that they will be doing it through the winter as well!   For only $15.00 you can't beat it! For those of you who don't know what it is - it's a volunteer program.  People volunteer their time at several different locations and fill up the baskets with 50% fruit and 50% vegetables.  The only people that get paid are the truck drivers.  You sign up at http://www.bountifulbaskets.org/ and select a location to pick up your basket. Then you go at the designated time with a couple of laundry baskets and they fill them up with food.  The fun thing about it is that we never know what's going to be in our basket.  It's always fun to get there and find out what we get!  It helps us eat healthier and get out of our comfort zone a little by making new recipes.

Those programs are awesome. Hooray for vegetables. What are you going to do with the persimmons?

I love doing that. It makes you try out new things that you'd never thought of before. :) Have fun with all that food.
