My Handyman

Our headlight has been giving us grief for a few months now. It used to be that when it was out we could pop the hood, slam it back down, and walla! The light would come back on. In fact, while we were headed back home from Thanksgiving we got pulled over for having only one headlight on. We showed the cop our trick. He gave us a warning and let us back on the road. Well, on our way home from Montana after Christmas, our trick wouldn't work anymore. Luckily we didn't get pulled over, but we have been driving with our brights on ever since. We contemplated taking it into the dealer to have a new light put in, but figured we don't have money to do that. Jamie decided he would put it in himself. We headed over to O'Reily's and got an $8.00 headlight and Jamie came home to put it in. 3 hours and 45 minutes later we had a beautiful new headlight! We had no idea it was going to take that long, and it was extremely frustrating there for a few hours! While he was putting it in, his favorite flashlight fell into the engine, Jamie punctured his finger with one of the tools he was using, the car battery died and we had to jump it, it was freezing cold, baby was crying, and then he ended up accidentally busting a small piece off of somewhere...not sure where... But, needless to say, we got a new headlight for only $8.00! So, when he came in I had a hot supper ready for him. I kissed him and said, "who says your not a handyman!?"
P.S. Notice the sweet leather tool pouch. If you click on the picture, you can see it in more detail. My dad designed it and had it especially made for Jamie. He's been working on the design for quite a while, and finally got it how he wanted it. He even has an "S" engraved onto the leather for "Sullenger." The tools are two of my dad's favorite brand of tools that he uses all of the time that he gave to Jamie as well. So, Jamie strapped it to his belt and used it while he worked on the car. It worked out great! Thanks, Dad! You always give such thoughtful gifts! Jamie absolutely loves it!

Kash wanted me to comment on how he's been there, done that. He changed ours once and Mazda's are just hard! Even when we had a guy at a part's store change it, after he got done - he wrote Kash's car on the "do not help" list. So now we fork over the money because it just isn't worth it! I'm pretty sure he hurt a finger, broke something and lost something too. Brought back lots of horrible memories :)
