Episode 3: Home for the Holidays

After spending Christmas Eve and Christmas Day with Jamie’s parents, we headed up to Montana to see my family. It was the first Christmas that everyone was together for about three or four years. It was great, because Derik had told us before heading up there that he was going to surprise the family by just showing up. So, we kept it a secret for him and watched everyone’s faces as he showed up on the door step. Once he got there, everyone was together.
Parker, Preston, Trenton, and I.
This is Troy. Otherwise known as "Ronnie Raccoon." He was so excited when he found a picture of a raccoon in the mail box. He had to show everyone!
Preston, Parker, and Trenton getting ready to get pulled on the sled.
This is our little hill in the backyard. We played the entire time we were up there! We played in the snow and went sledding a lot with everyone. The nephews loved getting pulled behind the four-wheeler! It was so cute hearing them scream while pulling them, even though we were moving super slow through the snow! One of the major things my family loves to do is play games, any game! So… we played at least a game or two every night while we were up there. My new favorite is Bohnanza! It is a bean-trading game and is a blast to play. We also love playing a game called “Murder in the Dark.” It is so fun to play with lots of people!
Jamie, Parker, Preston, and Trenton. The nephews sure love Uncle Jamie!
All the nephews (accept for Wyatt) pulling a silly face.
Uncle Derik making homemade rootbeer with the boys. They sure loved playing with it!
Getting ready for the rootbeer contest...One thing that my family loves is root beer and ginger ale. So, my dad has been gathering all different types for a few weeks now for a contest to find which ones were the best! He ended up gathering 12 different root beers and 7 ginger ales. We found that Teddy’s root beer and Thomas Kemper’s ginger ale was the best. I highly recommend you try this experiment. It’s a lot of fun!
RJ, Sid, and Amy playing out in the snow.
All the nephews (accept for Wyatt) waiting for a ride on the four-wheeler.
Trenton and Wade riding on Grandpa's saddle.
Uncle Sid and Wyatt playing the guitar together.
We made gingerbread houses that night. Sid is so creative, he made an entire barn scene! I think he could have entered it into a contest it was made so perfectly. I made an outhouse, and it turned out pretty dang good. Everyone's turned out great...just not near as good as Sid’s! The nephews also loved making the houses with everyone, and especially loved eating the candy!
Showing off my sweet skills.
Lots of candy for our gingerbread houses! RJ did a great job picking it out!
Baden made the best cherry dips ever! He is so good at making homemade chocolates, we ate them all in like two days!
We had so much fun being surrounded by family and enjoying having everyone around. Sometimes just being in the same room, not doing anything, is a blast! We are so happy to be closer to both Jamie’s and I’s families. We have been really craving it since we have been in Vegas and have missed out on a lot. Thank you family for making our Christmas this year so special and memorable. We made memories that we'll never forget. We hope you had a wonderful Christmas as well. We love you all so much!

I loved having you both here during the holidays. Thanks for posting all these fun pics (I like how you called them 'episodes':) The two pics in black and white are outstanding! You and Jamie both look great and the babies are precious. I love you, Sis!
